All recordings have been made using a standard dynamic mic (Shure SM58) positioned in front of the soundboard around the bridge area, and imported flat with no effects or processing. Apologies to sound engineers everywhere! Better recordings are coming soon. All the recordings are of newly built instruments before they have been collected or shipped. The sound of a handbuilt guitar will improve, develop and mature over many years, but hopefully this will give you an idea of the potential of my instruments.

Steve Tilston, a terrific singer songwriter and guitarist, noodling around on a brand new baby OO (about 2 weeks old!). Steve will come back and record the same again in 6 months and a years time, so that you can hear how the instrument has developed.
Here's the same OO being played by Gordon Tyrrall. Gordon's a lovely traditional singer and performer with a real fine feeling for his playing. He starts with a slow traditional Scottish tune and then gets into noodling around the fingerboard.
Another wonderful guitarist Gary Boyle playing the OO but this time jazz rather than finger-picking style.
Roger Higgins trying out a brand new 000 (details coming soon!). Roger's trying out a little slide
and some gentle picking
, showing what a versatile instrument the 000 can be.And here's Roger on a fresh Dreadnought. ![]()
Again here's the Dreadnought but being taken for a stroll by Paul Jermyn.
Listen to Steve Tilston playing some fingerstyle on a GL cutaway, aged two weeks old (that's the guitar not Steve at two weeks!)
